Volunteer Driver Opportunities Westchester & Putnam Counties, NY, and SW Fairfield County, CT

WE'RE DRIVING
INDEPENDENCE

Empowering older adults and adults with disabilities in

Westchester and Putnam County, NY and SW Fairfield County, CT,
to be engaged in their communities and live to their fullest potential.

TRA Group, Inc. provides services in Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York and southwest Fairfield County, Connecticut

Many thanks to Senator Shelley B. Mayer

On April 23, 2025, New York State Senator Shelley B. Mayer presented a $10,000 grant to TRA Group, Inc. at the organization’s Volunteer Appreciation Afternoon Tea held at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. The grant, which supports operating costs for TRA’s non-emergency medical transportation services, will help fund vehicle expenses, fuel, tolls, staff driver salaries, and other operational needs—enabling TRA to reach even more individuals in Westchester’s most underserved communities.

The funding will help TRA expand access to its medical ride program, particularly for low-English-speaking residents who often face barriers in obtaining essential healthcare. As TRA continues to experience growing demand, this timely grant supports the organization’s ongoing mission to ensure that older adults and adults with low vision can attend critical appointments and remain safely connected to their communities.

WE COULDN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!

Through grants and generous donations, TRA is able to provide free rides to medical appointments for older adults (60+) and adults with low vision (21+) in Westchester and southwest Fairfield Counties. We also provide information, referral, and access to supportive services in Westchester, Fairfield, and adjoining counties.

Special thanks to the Federal Transit Administration, Westchester County Business First, The Field Hall Foundation, The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services, New York State Office for the Aging, New-York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital and New-York Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital, ITN America Rides in Sight, and the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services – Administration on Community Living (ACL), whose ongoing support helps to power our mission.

Thank you New York State Assemblymember Chris Burdick and New York Senator Shelley B. Mayer.
