ABOUT

TRA Transportation • Resources • Access

TRA is a dynamic nonprofit organization which promotes the independence, safety, and mobility of older adults
and adults with disabilities in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley.

Vision

We envision a world where older adults and adults with disabilities have access to essential healthcare, are able to engage with their communities, and feel empowered to live independently at home and to their fullest potential.

Mission

Our mission is to create a network of sustainable, community-based volunteer transportation and information and referral services in order to promote safety, independence, and mobility for older adults (aged 60+) and adults with low vision (aged 21+) in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

History

For over a decade, TRA (founded as WestFair Rides) has proudly helped older adults who lack access to transportation and resources lead active and productive lives. We incorporated in 2011 and began providing medical appointment rides to older adults in the Sound Shore area of Westchester County. As our volunteer network grew, we expanded our service area. Leveraging technology, today we link older adults and adults with disabilities, and their families and caregivers, to the wealth of services now available to help them live independently at home.

Hear It From One Of Our Volunteers

“We have a real connection to each other: the riders and drivers, and the
drivers to each other. We’re a kind group, and a diverse group with
different backgrounds and interests. But we’re all comfortable talking.
We enjoy people, and we all are compassionate. Those things, we
have in common.”
