Arleen Zuckerman, TRA Board Chair Honored

Crain’s New York selected Arleen Zuckerman, TRA Board Chair to receive a 2023 Notable Nonprofit Board Leaders Award.

Arleen has been a volunteer driver for TRA, formerly WestFair Rides, since 2015 and has served on its Board as an officer since 2016. When working as a board member, her commitment and energy takes groups to higher levels. When Arleen takes on a task, it gets done well and promptly. Her intellect, integrity, humor, and warm heart are inspirational. At TRA, Arleen is responsible for assisting with facilitating critical access to medical appointments.

A can-do person, Arleen has strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Her leadership on the board has guided TRA in setting strategic goals and making informed decisions that align with TRA’s mission. Her expertise and guidance have contributed to TRA’s overall direction and effectiveness.

Arleen assists with building and maintaining meaningful relationships between TRA and potential volunteers and partners, such as New Rochelle Cares. Her active involvement in community outreach and engagement initiatives has helped TRA establish a stronger presence within the local community.


In addition to her work as Chair of New Rochelle Cares, Arleen is active in the community. For six years before COVID, Arleen was a mentor for three female Mount Vernon High School Juniors through the Star Scholars program. She also served on the Board of Meals-on-Wheels of New Rochelle for two terms and has been the Secretary of the Board of the Lukas Community. She has been a class officer for her alumnae class from Barnard College since graduating, recently serving as Class President from June 2017-June 2022.
