Hearty congratulations to our founder and president, Catherine Wynkoop, honored with the 2021 C-Suite Award! Presented by the Westchester & Fairfield County Business Journals, the awards honor top executives who create innovative ideas that propel progress and success in their respective organizations. Catherine will be honored for her leadership of TRA over the past decade, as well as her trailblazing work in aging in place initiatives in Westchester and the region.

Understanding that older adults are at the greatest risk of premature disability and decline if they choose to skip medical appointments, Catherine sought to address this critical and unmet need. In 2011, co-founded TRA, our collaborative, nonprofit organization providing medical transportation services for older adults and adults with vision impairment in Westchester County and the region.

Under Catherine’s leadership, TRA is now celebrating its 10th anniversary and has provided information, referrals, and nearly 17,000 rides to medical, dental, and cancer treatment appointments for individuals who might have otherwise foregone critical medical care.

“I’m humbled and honored to receive this award,” said Wynkoop. “Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to creating healthier communities. I’m thrilled to be at the helm of an organization that’s helping people be more mobile, engaged and active. We’re driving independence.”

With expertise gained from a successful 35+ year career in public health planning and social policy, community/home health administration, and healthcare, Catherine has tackled head-on the challenges older adults face when remaining independent in their homes as they age. Prior to founding TRA (founded as WestFair Rides), she created several organizations, programs, and services to meet these adults’ needs, including the Westchester-Fairfield Aging in Place Coalition, Active Living Over Fifty (ALOFT), and The Boxwood Alliance. She also helped to lead Westchester County’s Livable Communities initiative, and was invited to work with the Aging Advisory Council of the County’s transportation commissioner to lead a number of research projects that addressed transportation challenges for older adults, caregivers, and homecare workers.

Her dedication to helping older adults in Westchester and the region remain independent for as long as possible is unparalleled. Catherine, you are truly deserving of this top executive honor!
