The first tip from the CDC’s Tips to Prevent Vision Loss is to have a comprehensive dilated exam. You can also do quite a few things day-to-day to help keep your eyes healthy.
The list of tips include:
- Maintain your blood sugar levels, A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol
- Know your family’s health history
- Eat right to protect your sight
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Wear protective eyewear
- Quit smoking (or don’t start)
- Wear your sunglasses
- Give your eyes a rest from screens
- Clean your hands and contact lenses properly
- Practice workplace eye safety
