August is National Eye Exam Month

The first tip from the CDC’s Tips to Prevent Vision Loss is to have a comprehensive dilated exam. You can also do quite a few things day-to-day to help keep your eyes healthy.

The list of tips include:

  • Maintain your blood sugar levels, A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Know your family’s health history
  • Eat right to protect your sight
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Wear protective eyewear
  • Quit smoking (or don’t start)
  • Wear your sunglasses
  • Give your eyes a rest from screens
  • Clean your hands and contact lenses properly
  • Practice workplace eye safety
