New York State Office for the Aging’s Comprehensive Statewide Survey adds insignts on older New Yorkers views and needs. The survey, the first of its kind, received almonst 27,000 responses from NYers age 60 and older. The survey reports the strengths and needs of older adults as reported by themselves.
The survey covers many aspects of life from housing to volunteering and mental health.
Looking at Putnam and Westchester we found both had a high percentage of residents reporting transportation needs.
47% of Putnam County residents reported that having safe and affordable transportation available was problematic, 13 % reported no longer being able to drive.
45% of Westchester residents reported that having safe and affordable transportation was problematic, 18% reported no longer being able to drive
