Volunteer Linda Travis has a Masters in Transportation and was employed both by the Transit Authority and MetroNorth.
Linda is proud of her long association with TRA. She first got involved during the early days of WestFair Rides (now TRA) as a volunteer driver. Over a period of years her support for TRA’s mission led to Linda accepting a postion on TRA’s Board of Directors. In recognition of Linda’s leadership she was elected Board President.
In 2022 after three terms on the board, Linda rotated off.
Linda throughly enjoys the registered riders she brings to medical appointments. One in particular was a woman, Ms. K., that she drove to cancer treatments. Linda really respected and admired her for the way she shouldered through her chemotherapy. Ms. K. was as brave and determined as she could be.
Another memorable rider had joined the Merchant Marine after high school and traveled the world.
“I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve gotten in the car, not feeling cheerful, I get where I’m going for pick up, get the person in the car, and the next thing I know my entire day has turned around. I can scarcely imagine how I could be so full of gratitude and joy over what I have learned from the person I am driving.” Linda Travis
