Tick Related Illness

We’re hearing more and more about tick related illness. The NYS Department of Health and the CDC have information on their websites that can help you stay tick free.

NYS reminds us that although not all ticks can cause disease and not all ticks will make you sick, as these illnesses become more common it’s important to learn how to prevent a bite, how to remove a tick and what to do if you suspect you have a tick-born disease. Lyme disease is the most common but there are other serious diseases transmitted by ticks. Click here to read more on protecting yourself against tick bites and preventing disease.

Additional information is available at the CDC website including understanding where ticks live, treating clothing and gear, and avoiding contact. They include using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered insect repellents. An insect repellent guide is on their site and cautions what not to use and to always follow instructions.
