TRA’s non-emergency rides program grows monthly. We track the data for rides requested and delivered and calls to the Resource Center. For reporting purposes we’ve divided Westchester into six zones from the cities in southern Westchester to the villages further north.
Ibrahim Abdallah, Call Center Director, creates the quarterly ride reports for six Westchester zones. He evaluates scheduling efficiencies for medical rides provided by TRA volunteers, staff drivers, and paid backups.
When volunteers can’t fill all ride requests, TRA has three backup options. First, we refer to our valued community partners, including RideConnect of Family Services of Westchester, American Cancer Society, Cancer Support Team, Paratransit, and town services. Next, shorter trips, as in Zone 1 (Yonkers), go to livery backups. Longer trips, as in Zones 5 and 6 (upper Westchester), may go to TRA’s own vehicles.
